DfE awards contracts for school meals and breakfast clubs

As part of the School Food Plan, the Department for Education committed to providing seed funding to increase take-up of school meals and set up breakfast clubs.
The Department for Education has now awarded contracts the following contracts:
Lot 1: Support for schools and other organisations to be ready to provide free school lunches to all infant pupils whose parents want one from September 2014.
Children’s Food Trust / Lead Association for Catering in Education (LACA) consortium
Lot 2: Increase take-up in at least 2000 junior and secondary schools where take-up of school meals is very low.
Children’s Food Trust
Food for Life Partnership (The Soil Association)
The Design and Technology Association
Lot 3: Set up breakfast clubs in schools where over 35% of pupils are eligible for free school meals and there is no existing breakfast provision.
