Actions in the School Food Plan

The Action:

Set up two flagship London boroughs to demonstrate the impact of improving school food on a large scale

Demonstrating the transformational impact on health and attainment achievable through improving food across the whole environment

Action 5 of the School Food Plan sets out a joint commitment from the Mayor of London – working with the Chair of the London Food Board (Rosie Boycott) and the Department for Education to establish two Food Flagship boroughs in London. This hugely innovative and ambitious programme is setting out to make healthy food the norm by combining a suite of existing and new projects to improve the food culture across two communities.

The Food Flagships will bring together existing food and diet-related programmes and deliver new initiatives in a coordinated approach. With the work of the School Food Plan as a critical foundation, the London Food Flagships will demonstrate to a global audience the transformational impact on health and attainment achievable through improving food across the whole environment.
