Checklist for headteachers

The one thing that all schools with great food have in common is the culture and ethos created by the leadership of the headteacher. The School Food Plan is about supporting schools to make that cultural change – cooking food that is both appetising and nutritious; making the dining hall a welcoming place; keeping queues down; getting the price right; allowing children to eat with their friends; getting them interested in cooking and growing.

The checklist for headteachers contains practical steps every school can take to transform what children eat at school and how they learn about food. It highlights all the things which make a big difference to take-up and food culture.
